CONVERGENCE (A Line Drawn in the Water), 2015
Wooden fence
The work explores the boundaries we have built between ourselves and nature as if we (and whatever we create) indeed were not part of nature. Placed on a narrow clear-cut line between a forest with a nature trail and state protected forest it divides as well as invites. By stepping into the half-circle you become aware of the rare and untouched landscape right next to you. While no one thinks twice about fences placed in urban parks and green spaces - this unsuspected fence in the forest has a strong impact. It raises many questions; who has the right to control nature and our movements in it? Who decides what is valuable enough to view (or to save)? Is the unapproachable, yet identical, nature in front of us more valuable than the nature behind us or under our feet?
