(RE)PERCUSSI , 2024
Brava Educational Centre, Pargas City Council, Finland

The commissioned installation was created for a school environment and aimed to recognize the transitional stage where young people navigate adolescence and begin shaping their own paths into adulthood. At this stage, much of life is influenced by the expectations of parents, teachers, and peers. Rather than delivering a fixed message, the work invites imagination, interpretation, and creative thinking.
Inspired by The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, (Re)Percussio reflects the notion that the adult world is not always rational, and that what is hidden or unseen can hold the greatest beauty. The work is also inspired by the students’ energy—their movement, curiosity, and vitality—which shaped its concept both figuratively and literally.

Students were invited to make imprints in clay by punching, grabbing, and pushing the material. These impressions were then transformed into positive, abstract shapes and further developed into ceramic reliefs mounted on walls surrounding a “white box” elevator shaft. Up close, the forms reveal traces of shoulders, elbows, and arms—imprints of the students’ own movement and action—symbolizing growth, experimentation, and self-discovery.

The work’s meaning is completed by each viewer’s imagination, shifting with perspective and experience. Over the years, it offers curiosity, reflection, and inspiration to all who encounter it within the Brava School Centre.
